Mini Wall Quilt

While tidying up,

I re-discovered this box of itty-bitty HSTs

leftover from making Fruit Loops.

Hmmmm . . . 

How to turn them into something coherent . . . 

I stitched each set of four HSTs together,

then framed each square in a square 

with strips leftover from What Lies Beneath.

This photo shows the twelve 4" blocks 

before they were stitched together.

Here is the mini quilt top all sewn together.

I'm thinking minimal straight line quilting 

and a simple black binding . . .

Either Or (the quilt)

Either Or

Created using the Rail Fence design

from Cultural Fusion Quilts by Sujata Shah

and black and white fabrics rescued

from the no-longer-wanted section of Chris's stash.

Quilted on my Bernina using the walking foot.

I stitched three lines along the diagonal length of each dark zig zag.

(left edge / center / right edge)

I stitched a single line down the center of the white zig zags.

(medium gray Aurifil 50wt thread)

I haven't laundered the finished quilt yet.

It is already soft and lovely

and I know it will be even more so 

since the Warm and Natural batting 

softens and shrinks by 2-3%.

Ta Da !

I found this glorious yardage during

the going-out-of-business sales

at our now-closed LQS.

The binding was made using

leftover backing fabric 

from Umbrellas Unfurled.

I love the way the free form zig zags 

translate into stitching lines across the back.

Either Or is my third freeform Rail Fence quilt.

There is a fourth one already cut out

and waiting to be stitched . . .

Happy Strings - The Quilt

Happy Strings is finished 

and I am beyond delighted with it . . .

and Cherry-colored Glide thread.

And this back . . . oh my, how I love it.

The quilt measures 51" wide x 66" long.

Four by Four - The Quilt

Four by Four was started earlier this year.

Now it is finished.

I absolutely love Chris's

fabulous free motion quilting!

For now I've set it aside

so that I can pull it out after

the Christmas decorations are packed away.

Christmas Tree Quilt

Yes!

The Christmas Tree quilt for my pins is finished.

Measures 36" wide x 34" tall.

Each of the triangles was informally ditch quilted on all three sides

except for the tree trunk . . .

Here's a peek at the pieced back and hanging sleeve.

This was one of my mother's favorite pins.

My sister bought this pin during her high school trip to France.

This pin was a gift from a former co-worker.

This is SO much better than simply storing the pins in a box.

I absolutely LOVE IT when a plan comes together!

Winter Sunshine - the Quilt

Winter Sunshine is finished!

Started in January 2015.

The finished quilt measures 58" wide x 74" long.

I love the texture of the quilting in the fabrics . . .

and the colors are so wonderful,

especially as we begin "khaki season"

here in western Tennessee.

Azaleas (the quilt) - Outdoors in the Sunshine

I had several emails asking to see the "whole quilt" . . . 

So now that the rains have gone and the sun has returned,

I took Azaleas in Bloom outdoors.

brought from India by my daughter in law

and the Winter design from Cultural Fusion Quilts

by Sujata Shah.

This is where the finished quilt will reside.

In the dining room next to my grandfather's buffet,

which is covered with another length of Indian silk.

I love the way the silks reflect the lamp light

and I'm looking forward to our next family dinner

when DIL can see the finished quilt in person.

Midtown Vibe (the quilt)

Midtown Vibe 

is finished!

Younger son and I took it out for a photo shoot last week.

Where?

Midtown Memphis, of course.

Quilted with free motion baptist fans by Chris Ballard.

Destined for younger son's bed.

We visited the new Overton Square parking garage . . .

. . . and watched while the old French Quarter Inn disappeared

to make way for the new home of Ballet Memphis.

We visited the Levitt Shell . . .

. . . and one of the lions that guard the Brooks Museum.
