I shared this photo of my waiting-to-be-quilted closet in the last post.
I've reduced the number of waiting tops/backs so that only 1/2 of the closet rod is theirs and my goal is to keep things this way going forward. The ever present, very visual backlog started to wear on me so it was time for a change.
Here is the result of those decisions - a second Billy bookshelf tucked into the closet with newly tidied wire shelves around it.
(I even managed to get rid of some things that had been stashed in the dark corners of the closet for far too long)
Here's a closer look at the new bookshelf and its contents.
(I plan to relocate the two vintage wood hangers since they're not wide enough for a waiting quilt top/back)
And this is my original Billy bookshelf, also newly dusted and rearranged. Nutsie insisted on keeping his post near Young Man's framed watercolor rainbow.
Both of these shelves have breathing room aka space for future journals that are currently WIP projects or waiting in the wings.
I was especially delighted to discover my grandmother's brown pottery bowl was perfect to house the smaller journals.
Younger Son volunteers at our local library two afternoons a week. Last week he proudly presented me with a vintage Beanie Baby Squirrel named "Nuts" (born in January 1996 according to his tag).
A library patron donated their collection of Beanie Babies to the library a while ago and the staff decided to offer them to other library visitors in exchange for a monetary donation to the library.
I've renamed "Nuts" since Nutsie already lives in the studio and I don't want them to inadvertently get blamed for each others' antics.
Studio Squirrel No. 10 - Ty - seems quite happy sitting on the shelf above my sewing machine below one of Young Man's weekend art projects.
