Quiet Time - The Back

The last big item on my list of February goals

was piecing the scrappy back for Quiet Time.

I am DELIGHTED to say that the back is indeed finished!

I was determined to USE some of my longest stashed fabrics . . . 

This yard has been set aside for almost 9 years!

I bought a yard of this in 2006 when I attended my first AQS show.

I had a little less than a yard of this print left from 5-6 years ago . . .

The map print and safety pins have been folded and re-folded

for close to four years now . . . 

And this music print has glared at me from the shelf

for close to four years.

I AM SO HAPPY THEY HAVE ALL BEEN USED!!

Their scrappy blend of different times and places

will be the perfect back for Quiet Time.

Quiet Time - The Flimsy

Quiet Time has turned into a flimsy!

(flimsy = quilt top)

Once all the strips were sewn together,

I was surprised at how quickly the top went together!

Created using the Sunday Morning pattern

by Cheryl Arkison in Sunday Morning Quilts,

my version measures 50" wide x 70" long.

What a fabulous way to use a LOT of scrappy neutral strings!

Quiet Time - An Update

Remember this post ?

Since then, that tangle of strings has been sorted.

I ended up using over half of the jumble

to cut enough pieces for my smaller version

of a Sunday Morning Quilt.

These pieced pairs will be used for upright segments.

(I'll position the rosy batik consistently to the left.)

Next steps will be to trim these pairs to a consistent 3" width

and start stitching the scrappy neutrals into pairs . . .

(I found the paint sample card

 in a stack of things waiting to be put away.

Looking at the photos, I remember why I brought it home!)
