Week Two started off with a big change of plans. Daddy got sick on their vacation and couldn't take LM to his doctor's appointment - so I did.
A few minutes after that first photo was taken, the cast was gone!
After x-rays and a chat with the doctor, LM was sent home with a wristlet brace to wear for the next four weeks (exceptions being in the pool, in the shower, or sleeping at night).
Such a big day for LM!
Each day during his visit he wrote out a list of things he had done - some days it was a struggle (mostly because he didn't want to sit still that long) but other days (especially when Meri helped), it was done pretty quickly.
Late day Thursday he decided we needed to make a quilt for Uncle A's childhood bear. He was clear about the fabrics and insisted it be something he could use the die cutter to make.
Once the discussion over quilting design and thread color were completed (oh, my goodness the options and thought process involved on his part), I started setting up Max while LM drew me his version of how he wanted it quilted.
And here is the finished quilt with its new owner.
LM also helped Dee Dah take out the old support boards in the workshop window opening that previously housed two air conditioners.
(DH has now installed the new window with trim and paint completed and the new in-wall A/C does a much better job of cooling the workshop making the entire project well worth the time and expense.)
LM is into Beyblades and Battle Bots - so a battle box for his fort was built from leftovers (mostly to protect the baseboards in the house).
The weather was miserably hot and humid but the battles went on first thing in the morning or after dinner and close to sunset.

LM is home now and the house is SO quiet without the boy and his dog . . .
He's off for a two-week visit with his other grandparents later this month where he'll celebrate birthday number SEVEN.
School starts again on August 14 - first grade - he's so excited about it.
And he'll be back for another long-ish stay with us at the end of August into September when both parents have overlapping work/travel commitments.

You do such fun stuff with your grandson it makes me jealous! My grandparents lived 800+ miles away growing up, so I didn't know them as well. And I LOVE his pink shoes. I wish they'd make such fun colors for adults - I struggle to find any that aren't mostly black and that so boring.
Nice to see that he's healed up so well--wonderful to have such a long visit...
I know what you mean about the house seeming empty--after Willa and Fiona leave it is so quiet around here... Willa is a dynamo...fun but exhausting too...

The way LM was holding that hammer had me worried! I also love Battlebots but don't have any to play with. What a great time y'all have had. And I agree with Cookie Monster.
LM must be so happy to have the cast off. Miserable to wear a cast during hot weather.
I love the Cookie Monster quote. Hard to believe some kids (including my grandsons) go back to school so soon. In NY, school ends in late June and starts the after Labor Day.

Somehow kids don't notice the hot and humid as much as we adults do. That is great that the cast could come off.
My great-grandson is looking forward to first grade too. His 7th birthday is the last day of August.
What a wonderful two weeks together! It is truly a treasure to have extended time like this with grandchildren!

What an awesome blessing to spend such quality time with your grandson. You guys have so many great things to navigate through the days - I'm sure he absolutely loves to come visit! And certainly your house is much quieter now :(
