Friday Thoughts ~

My boys gave me this lily plant for Mother’s Day over 10 years ago and it has bloomed on or near that date every year since then.

This photo (above) was taken about a month ago in the back corner of our back yard. We planted these trees in 1989, shortly after moving into our house.

And this photo was taken earlier this morning. Larry has always pruned our trees, but they are so big now that we had a professional come in (he’s a fellow woodturner who owns a tree service). Next steps will be to plant azaleas and a couple of dogwoods, but for now we’re still getting used to the openness and pondering how we want to “design” within this new space.

Here’s to a restful and satisfying weekend...

“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanates from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”
(Robert Louis Stevenson)

“They are beautiful in their peace,
they are wise in their silence.
They will stand after we are dust.
They teach us, and we tend them.”
(Galeain ip Altiem MacDunelmor)

Such a lovely and peaceful respite.

Love your pictures. Looks very peaceful there. I love your grandmothers tablecloth. What a treasure. I just did a post about a visit I just had with my 94 year old grandmother.

The planting ideas are perfect. A dogwood, too? Oh my friend, that would indeed be lovely.

Oh and I just had an idea - what a great place to hang big quilts for photos (maybe?).
