This and That

The clean out and reorganization of the side attic is DONE!

No more black boxes, less stuff that was never used, and easier access to everything.

SO well worth the time and effort.

Several of you mentioned the lighting.  

This is how the attic looks with the lights off and only the light from the access door in my "waiting to be quilted" closet.

There used to be a single bare bulb in the center of the space but DH and I had both hit our heads on it and broken the bulb more than once, so . . . Maybe 20 years ago (or more) he said "enough!"

He started with the old bulb's socket and ran wire through the rafters as shown above.

Then he installed three of these tube lights against the underside of the roof to make the space more functional and less dangerous.

We have never been sorry.

And, as I'm sure you have noticed, there has not a lot of sewing happening this week . . . 

Part of the reason is that DH is building a replacement top for my sewing table.

The top will be almost exactly the same size as my current model, but the insert for the machine will shift to the right by two inches so the left side of my body isn't constantly rubbing against the extension area.

And, the new laminate has a matte finish - meaning no more annoying glare from the overhead lights.

The current top is at least 10 years old so I'm really looking forward to the new one.

Little Man will be here for the weekend, so I'll get back to stitching again next week.
