Peach Cylinders - The Flimsy

Those of you who visit here often
already know that square quilts are not my favorites.

I much prefer rectangular ones.

So I pulled a rich warm batik from the stash
and added borders to my Peach Cylinders project,
bringing it into the 48-ISH x 64-ISH range.

Here's a detail photo showing the glowing batik
and the warm brown Grunge inner border.

And given the international nature of Chihuly's appeal,
this global map print will be perfect for backing.

I agree with you about square quilts. They are too short to cover a body and don't work well on beds either. You have the perfect backing for it!

Your quilt has a lovely glow! I'm not a fan of square quilts either, but once in awhile they end up that way regardless.:)

It keeps getting better and better over here.
Great interpretation of 'Peach Cylinders.'
And I like the quote, 'Always have something beautiful in sight,
Even if it's only a daisy in a jelly glass.'
But I happen to think daisies and jelly jars are precious.
Especially if the daisy was picked by a child's hand.

Love the addition of the border. So warming

What a beautiful color combination. You are so clever to notice it in the glass and translate it to your quilt. The border gives this a more finished look. It can go on a wall like art. Right next to your Chihuly vase!

Such a bold border choice! I have to say that I was fairly surprised by this one, as it seems to take the quilt in an entirely different direction from where it began. (Not necessarily a bad thing... just unexpected.) LOVE backing choice, though!

Isn't it funny what shape quilts we all prefer, I like square ones so there are even rows of blocks what ever way the quilt is. Thanks for linking to Sew, Stitch, Snap, Share.

I'm with you on the subject of quilt shape, I love that border, the stripped centre looks to be floating.

Your quilt and the inner border looks as if it is floating over the large border. It is a very nice optical illusion.

Thank you! (Translation = Bright, positive and very beautiful!)

The border is great. It makes the center come forward and the narrow dark inner border frames it perfectly.
