Combining inspiration from an Instagram photo
with the new label maker I received for Christmas,
I have re-done the labels on my resource boxes.
I like this a lot.
(sadly they don't make paint chip sample cards
for groups like Brights on Black or Christmas . . . )
I also updated the labels for my crumb boxes.
There was, of course, some much-needed
sorting and refining of the stashed bits and pieces.
After hours of doodling this design on paper
I finally got brave enough to stitch it
on four large practice pieces.
The effort convinced me I can handle
basic liberated spirals although I want to
do several more practice pieces
before I start using them on a real quilt.
At Saturday's local quilters potluck,
the 2017 Davies Manor Mystery Quilt was shared.
I am going to play along with this one since
there are at least five different ways to set the blocks
AND
we are being encouraged to use the base blocks
to come up with our own alternative setting.
THAT part appeals to me.
Dark = six different deep purples
Medium = six different acid greens
Light = six different black on white prints
I won't start cutting or stitching on this project
until May but I have my colors ready to go
and they all came straight from the stash!

Great idea for the labels! I might borrow your brilliant idea.
Looking forward to your next project!
That's a really cool way to label your resources!
Clever color chip labels, easy to see. Love the fabrics for your group project and the fact it is flexible. Have fun this week.
Oooh! Love that fabric and combos.
visiting from Oh Scrap. your free motion quilting is amazing
Using the color chips is very clever. I must remember that if I ever have more room for storage.
Maybe you could cut up some red, green, black and bright paint chips and re-glue them into combos that say "Christmas" or "novelty"?
I never saw the paint chip labels. That's pretty all by itself. And kudos on closing the lids on boxes.. mine are overstuffed
what a cool idea for labeling!
Paint Chips!!!!
Love it
Actually I did cut up several cards to create a three-part brown and a three-part red (they had miserable pre-arranged choices in those colors). I thought about continuing that process for my other non-traditional boxes but decided simple labels were better (and easier).
What an AWESOME organizational tool... and SEW pretty!!
Love your scrap organization!
I love the paint chip idea! I made labels on my computer. I don't see any bins for 'Confused Fabrics'! I have two of those :)
Clever idea for labeling your fabric bins. Your mystery quilt color combo is going to exciting to work with.
I'm another who is mighty impressed by your system. You have the paint chips on your resource boxes, what exactly are resource boxes? You look to have reasonably large pieces in there so are they perhaps just larger pieces than crumbs or a certain yardage eg 1/4 yards?
What a great way to organize! Thanks for sharing!
Oooh, look at that organisation! How fantastic those paint chips are... I want to do it now, but I probably don't have enough fabric, haha! Is that an excuse to buy some, I wonder :D
That's some amazing organization!
what about checking out the craft store scrap booking section for papers like brights on black, holidays, or other categories that paint chips don't exist for?
