I can now say that I have been inside
the new Penzeys Spices store in Memphis.
What a wonderland of flavors and smells!
I have ordered from them online
but now I can stop in any time
I'm in the neighborhood.
Younger son went with me
and he added a few special spices
for his own kitchen, too.
For those in the Greater Memphis area,
Penzeys is running some excellent
grand opening promos
through March 5th.
The new store is on St. Perkins
opposite the old (recently torn down)
Sears store at Laurelwood.
I had hoped to have Something Fishy
quilted and ready to share today
with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge link party
but other things took priority.
It didn't help that I completed changed my mind
about how I want to quilt it . . .

Today is our annual Quilter's Potluck
open to all quilters in the area.
There will be lots of conversation,
stitching, eating, laughing, and planning.

Ooohhh, I *love* Penzey's! So many great tastes. The double-strength vanilla is amazing. And changing your mind about the quilting design is perfectly acceptable-- and even encouraged!
Until the quilt is done, you are free to change your mind as many times as you want until you are completely happy with your decision. I am glad our Penzey's isn't very close, as it is too tempting to buy so many spices.
We love Penzey's. We're fortunate to have a retail store just over the state line in Kenosha. (That we agree with Bill Penzey's social/political stance is a nice bonus.)
We have a Penzey's in Buffalo, and I have a lot of favorites. Can't wait to see the final quilting.
Thanks for sharing your pic of the quilt with the clear vinyl over it. The more I quilt, it seems the more special that vinyl is. It really opens up a lot of quilting possibilities and we can just wipe it off for the next time or next idea. Can't wait to see the finish!
Using the vinyl overlay can definitely give you a clear visual of what you want to quilt. I like the designs your showing. Is that the newest idea?
Love Penseys Spices. We have one here in NJ - it is a wonderful shop, as I am sure they all are. Love their Vietnamese cinnamon and Tuscan spice mix!
I totally love Penzeys. We have one near us that opened a few years ago. Prior to that the nearest one was across town. I still end up ordering online, but it's nice to be able to visit the store and just browse.
Wonderful, bright, energetic improv quilt! FUN!
