Do you remember phone booths? How the phone books were always curled and wrinkled from dangling off the shelf on their wire cable? Having to search for dimes and then quarters? How hot and stuffy the booths were when the door was closed? [and who can forget Superman and his quick-change-in-a-phone-booth moves...]
Even when we ran our house cleaning franchise just over 15 years ago, we had pagers but relied on public pay phones to stay in contact with our staff and office when we were out on customer calls! That is NOT very long ago. The folks who own it now have even gone so far as to use gps positioning for their teams and vehicles!
Speaking of on the road ... here's O (Lynne's swap quilt), waiting to go on its road trip!

There's an interesting story by BBC News Night here about efforts to recycle, restore,
and repurpose abandoned and obsolete items, particularly telephone kiosks . . .
Meanwhile, O waits patiently on the front porch (yes, we have new Cracker Barrel rocking chairs.
The wicker fan back chairs have moved downtown to eldest son's and wife's front porch).
Maybe O needs to grab a copy of this book to pass the time before its journey to New Hampster to live with Millie and Lynne . . .

LOVE, Love, love, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the backing fabric of O. My quilt for you is growing, and hopes to become a flimsy real soon...
When O arrives at my house, however, it won't have any worries about being Obsolete. I intend to give it a good workout, and keep it in a state of perpetual fitness!
O is really making the rounds. I bet it really was comfy on the Cracker Barrel Rockers. We have a couple of those too.
That looks like a tempting read - I may have to add it to my list!
O looks very interesting indeed... and yes, I am old enough to remember phone booths all too well!
