No Ugly Flowers (the Flimsy)

.We have a flimsy!!

I decided to go with my original plan and let the blocks sing on their own.

I wanted to let their flower status be within the eye of the beholder
and I wanted people to notice the text in the back ground fabric.

Seeing the top sewn together, I'm thankful I made that choice.

Thank you for such great comments yesterday!

You made some excellent observations
and it was interesting to read your responses and points of view.

KISS . . .

What story do you want to tell . . .

Bullseyes . . .

Too dark . . .

Distracting . . .

The blocks shine without but become back ground with . . .

All valid points.

(A couple of you are no-reply bloggers,
so I was unable to respond to your comments.)

Sunshine and shadow pose - the clouds kept blocking the sun

I wasn't planning to add a border,
but all those seam edges needed to be protected
(stay stitching wasn't quite enough)
so I added a 1.5" strip of the leafy green binding batik.

The colorfully scrappy back is also pieced.
(shown folded on the hanger)

Approx. 50" x 66"

Thank you, Sujata
for writing your wonderful book!

I've finished two quilt tops so far
and there's another waiting in the wings.

It's beautiful, Julie! Great fabrics and Sujata's pattern is the perfect playground for them. Now, where in the world did you find those ginormous clothespins? :)

I am so glad you did not add those centers!

So pretty! That dark green mini border is a good choice, too. Did you notice that one of the prominent headlines in the top picture is "Sewinista creates"? Just a lovely, happy quilt.

I have the book and like this pattern. Your version without the squares in the middle is very appealing.

I think too, it's way better without the center circles. What a beauty ! And the backing is gorgeous too .

Oh yes, good decisions! Glad you resisted the temptation to applique centers on your flowers. It was a good idea but the top looks better without them. I really like the narrow green border too. That touch of green strengthens the image of flowers. Good for you!
