Pandemonium - the Flimsy

And then there was a flimsy on my design wall.

54" wide x 66" long

Pat left a comment the other day
wondering why I persisted with this project . . .

Hopefully you can see why I didn't want to give up.

Wonderfully scrappy . . .

Full of interesting bits to look at . . .

And ultimately satisfying -
now that the top is complete.

(that's the planned binding along the right edge)

* * *

Joan wondered if Pandemonium didn't need a new name.

I did consider changing it given how the top evolved,
but I'm not going to since the scrappy back
will not be nearly as calm as the quilt's front.

Getting this AHIQ quilt top completed
was one of my primary goals for September.

I'm happy to cross it off the list.

(the back will likely not happen until next month)

Beautiful result in a different direction and maybe it should be titled "Fandemonium".

Wonderfully scrappy and in all the shades of pink! It's gorgeous in all the bits to look at and the places to linger. Somewhere out there is the person who receives this quilt as a gift. Lucky one !!

Love how this finished out!!
I enjoyed watching the process / progress on this quilt.
It gave me an ahhh moment when you laid out the frame work / borders so early and defined the space you where going to be working in.
Love that idea!

Wow, that evolved into quite a lovely quilt top. I love the pink, and the Dresdens are very grounding for the design. When I saw the picture this morning, it reminded immediately of the state fair-- the ferris wheel and cotton candy especially. Plenty of pandemonium there!

Once
Once again you succeeded in making lemonade! Not that you really began with lemons, but this certainly is worth the effort ! So glad you persisted and your results are lovely . Congratulations!

Love this quilt top. It is awesome - you take chaos and just make it work. I admire that.

That quilt top turned out so pretty! I love all of the pinkness that definitely rules even though there are some bright prints in the triangle border.

It's so fun to watch the evolution of a project. This is a marvellous layout... your eye keeps moving all around the quilt.
I love looking at all your background fabric choices that are so perfect in blending together but are each so interesting.
The labour pains were tough on this one, but you persevered and delivered a fabulous creation!

Perhaps not Pandamonium, but certainly FANtastic. (I think back to the 1970's when John D. MacDonald pubished a novel called Condominium. A library volunteer was calling patrons to notify them that their holds were in [you can tell how long ago that was; now notification is online OR if by phone no title i.d.!] -- she said, "Condamonium has come in for you.")

Love the background you created with all your pinks. It's been a long process but worth all your efforts. I just finished reading Audrey's post and noticed you both made pink backgrounds. Food for thought for us all.

Wow! I love it...and you switched the broken dishes blocks, which I would have suggested.

What a difference! It's been great to watch your process.

Thanks so much.

I really like your quilt top. I'm a big fan of the pink and your wonderful plaids. I would love to get some of the fabric with the word flowers in different sizes. Can you help me with that?

Thank you,
Stephanie

Another lovely quilt, I'm glad you kept working on it. I think I need a thesaurus so I have more words than lovely, gorgeous, beautiful... Not that anyone ever gets tired of hearing those about their work though.

Speaking of persisting - how do you know when it's time to put aside a project that's giving you trouble? Do you have a time limit? A number of times you will root through the stash looking for a solution? That hard to describe feeling in your head or stomach that it's just not going to come together, at least not this time? You realize your thinking has changed from a curious "what if I..." or "I wonder..." to a sad "I guess I should..." ?

I'm late in catching up on this post with your splendid finished flimsy up on display! A beautiful interpretation of the AHIQ challenge and a classic case of the 'less is more' phrase. Love the softness in this quilt top.
