The Spotted Winkel is off the design wall at last.
The polka dotted circles of all sizes
are securely pinned onto the background.
And all of the elements
are slightly closer together
than they were last month
in order to shorten the length
to more evenly balance with the width.
This is the lower left corner of the WIP top.
This is the lower right hand corner of the WIP top.
This is the upper right hand corner.
And this is the upper left hand corner.
And then, because this is off the wall and onto the floor,
I was able to walk around to the other end and take this photo.
And I realized that I really didn't like
the arrangement in the new lower left corner.
So I started shifting things around again.
This is how things ended up - more balanced than before.
And it also looks better from the original perspective.
The WIP top currently measures 50" wide x 71" long.
Machine appliqué of the circles will be the next step
and I won't be a bit surprised if some of the small circles
are repositioned before being permanently sewn in place.

I really like how this is turning out. Your fabrics are beautiful. Good job!
I would totally buy this if you put out a quilt kit on this. I so love polka dots and this is an AWESOME quilt!
Totally unique and so much fun energy!
I would LOVE this as a kit! Beautifully done!! The composition and colors are amazing!
This is the most amazing quilt! I'm glad you linked to Fret Not Yourself.
Do you have a pattern for this quilt? It screams FUN!! Thanks for sharing.
Wow ...... POP. . ... it bursts with colours and looks amazing........
Oh yes! The last version is so much better than the first! It's so interesting to get to that moment when everything within ourselves sighs in satisfaction--this is it! Great looking quilt and good luck with the machine applique.:)
Better and better! It's so dynamic.
Gosh - what a fabulous top - so much to see and intersting to see the effect of the rearranging.
Wow, Julie! You really have nailed the challenge. This is so great, and each little tweak has made it better. I look forward to seeing all your circles stitched safely in place. Thanks for linking this inspiring piece with AHIQ.
Fun with color and scale!
Thanks for sharing your process, very encouraging.
Your answer will be in Thursday's post -- sorry I cannot respond to you directly.
Thank you VERY much!
Since you are a no-reply blogger, I have to respond to you here and hope you see it. No, there will not be a kit. Gathering the fabrics over time from a variety of places is such a part of the process -- each of us needs to do that for ourselves.

Delightful Colorful quilt! love it!
Absolutely stunning, Julie. Wonderful colors. Love the mix of spheres - both sizes and infill. How generous of you to share so many process photos. Thanks for linking with AHIQ.
