Quilting Progress

This is the back of Little Man's crib quilt,
the one his parents asked me to make.

You can see the texture from
my first attempt with an unmarked
liberated free motion orange peel design.

Yes!!

The border needed a different design,
so I went with simple straight lines.

Not liberated lines . . .
but ruler-guided straight lines.

I've had this tool for a couple of months now
and decided this quilt was a good place to test it.

(But first DH had to modify (enlarge) the interior slot
since my open toe quilting foot is not a "true 1/4" foot"
and I didn't want to spend $140.00 to get one from APQS)

It works VERY well.

Max and I will use this Line Tamer again.

I'll share finished photos
after the quilt is Christmas-gifted.

great job on the quilting! I have that ruler and love it. I use it a lot with my longarm.

Nice quilting. I am not a big ruler fan. I use them when I have to do diagonals on the longarm. It is very hard to keep the ruler still and move the machine with one hand. I guess i am happy with the hand drawn look.

Congratulations! Isn't it great when things work out?
Your quilting looks good.

Very clever husband. I have some of the parts I need to try ruler work but haven't had the courage to get the rest. I'd love to hear more about your experience. Are you using a longarm or domestic?

Julie, I’ve been wanting to hear how you are liking your “Max” sit down quilting machine. And wondering if you are sitting in front of it or on the side of the head like a regular domestic sewing machine. I’m in the market for a machine with a larger throat, but I haven’t seen a mid arm where you sit in same position as a regular sewing machine. Could you comment about your experience with your “Max” (otherwise known as the APQS “George”, thanks, Katie

You're fortunate to have a husband who can customize your tools for you! Your quilting looks good too. :-)

Katie - I would love to share my positive "George" experiences with you but you are a no-reply blogger and I do not have any way to get in touch with you. Please comment again and leave me an email address or email me directly using the link in my sidebar. Thank you!

Don't you love those unmarked orange peels?? I think that's a fab way to quilt simple square patchwork.
