Big River Crossing

Earlier this week DH and I took a walk at sunset.

We've been wanting to check out Big River Crossing . . .

(note - all photos should supersize if double clicked)

This photo is taken facing west (towards Arkansas)

The superstructure of this 100-year old bridge fascinates me.

DH with part of the Memphis skyline behind him.

Yours truly with the downtown area in the background.

This photo was taken from the half-way point
(1/2 mile from the TN side of the Mississippi)

This You Tube Video gives a great overview
of the rail/auto and now pedestrian bridge
and why it is so unique and important.
(WELL worth the 4-1/2 minutes to watch)

We will definitely go again
so we can walk the whole way across and back.

I don't know very much about your area so the YouTube video was very educational. Since I live in an area with no long bridges, I really can't say I enjoy driving on long bridges when traveling.

I LOVE bridges! I need to do an art series on bridges one day. I have tons of photos from all over the world!

Enjoyed the story and video. I am spoiled as we have the Peace Bridge and the Rainbow Bridges to Canada that are gorgeous bridges. I have walked across the Rainbow Bridge and enjoyed the view of Niagara Falls.

Whoops, I meant this fall. We both commented on how it would be interesting to walk across it someday.

Lovely colors, how could you not be happy and peaceful around those colors?

Great photos, and the video link was interesting. As this post was loading I thought Big River Crossing was going to be the name of a quilt!

Yes, I thought it would be a quilt, too. I love geography and visiting historical sites. Thanks for the information.
